Compliance planning is essential and mandatory within the healthcare system. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2010, requires that all healthcare providers applying to enroll as Medicare providers have a compliance program in place. The compliance program must be more than a document adopted by the governing body and reviewed once per year. All healthcare providers have to build a culture of compliance and code of conduct within their organization.
